Roy W. Link, 79, East Grand Forks, Minnesota, died Friday, August 1, 2014 in Valley Memorial Homes Transitional Care Unit with his family by his side. Roy Wilmer Link was born to Wilmer Carl Henry Link and Ora Hazel (Cudmore) Link on May 16, 1935 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended East Grand Forks Public Schools, graduating from East Grand Forks Senior High in 1953. Roy Link and Sonia (Bang) Link were united in marriage on August 28, 1955 at Mekinock, North Dakota. Roy was a farmer and potato broker. He enjoyed gardening in the summer and woodworking in the winter. He donated many of his woodworking projects to various charities, families, and friends. Roy enjoyed a special relationship with his church and especially Pastor Sam Wellumson. He always had a positive attitude and had a gift of sharing laughter with others. Roy is survived by his wife, Sonia Link; children, Karen (Link) and Edward Mueller, Carlsbad, CA, Vicki Link, Grand Forks, ND, Timothy and Mona (Vervalen) Link, East Grand Forks, MN, Kathleen (Link) and Kevin Boushee, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Nicholas and Christie (Cannady) Kjorvestad, Katie Link, Jared Link, Joshua Link, Megan Link, Chelsi (Link) and Craig Ballard, Tanner Link, Bennett Boushee and Sarah Boushee; great-grandchildren, Chaycen Ballard, Caydence Ballard, Chloey Link; sisters, Darlene (Link) Lundeen, Billings, MT, Marilyn (Link) and Bill Erickson, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer Link and Ora Link. Celebration of Life Services: 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 in Christ the King Free Lutheran Church, 1913 3rd Ave NW, East Grand Forks, MN. Visitation: will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. Prayer Service Sunday, August 3, 2014 (today) in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks followed by a reception at the church. Memorials are preferred to Christ the King Free Lutheran Church parking lot pavement project.
