James Allen

James "Jim" Allen, 68, Grand Forks, died Friday, August 22, 2014 in Woodside Village. Jim was born December 29, 1945 in Glenwood, MN, the son of Lyle "Jiggs" and Lois (Fralick) Allen. He graduated from Dawson County High School in Glendive, MT in 1964. He then went to Dawson County Junior College where he graduated in 1966, then onto Kinmann Business College in Spokane, WA where he graduated with a business degree in 1967. Jim started his career with Northland Peterbuilt Co. in 1967 working as an accountant. He married Cleo Kaye Holmgard on July 13, 1968 in Reserve, MT. He moved to Grand Forks in 2004 to be closer to his family. In 2009, Jim moved into Woodside Village where he participated in many activities. Jim loved to sing in the nursing home choir, watch UND hockey games, playing cards, and going to West McDonald Lake. Jim is survived by his sons Jeffery and Eric (Christi) Allen, grandchildren Peyton, Reece, Grant, and Andrew, all of Spokane, WA, sisters Cookie (John) Mitchell, Grand Forks, ND, Kit (Jim) Foreman, Mesquite, NV, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Barbara. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Havig-Heen Chapel of Valley 4000. A Graveside Service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, MN on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of Jim to Valley Memorial Homes Woodside Village, 4004 24th Ave S.
