Kevin J Nelson

Kevin J. Nelson, 51, Fargo, ND and formerly of East Grand Forks, MN died Monday, September 8, 2014 in Fargo. Kevin Jay Nelson was born January 18, 1963 in Grand Forks, the son of Harry and Eleanor (McKeever) Nelson. He was raised and educated in East Grand Forks, MN. In 1982, Kevin enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in Washington D.C., in Norfolk, VA and in Oak Harbor, WA. He also served on both the U.S.S. Carl Vinson and the U.S.S. Roosevelt aircraft carriers. Kevin retired from the Navy and moved to Grand Forks in 2008 where he worked at NAPA auto parts. Kevin enjoyed yard work, gardening, traveling and spending time with family; especially his great nieces and nephews whom put a sparkle in his eyes. He also enjoyed board games, cards and computer games. Kevin married Kathy Abbey on July 25, 1992 in Grand Forks, ND. She survives along with daughter, Jaymy (John) Wood, Orlando, FL; brother, Bob (Sandy) Nelson, East Grand Forks, MN; sister, Sharon (Wayne) Adams, East Grand Forks, MN along with several aunts, uncles, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Dennis. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
