Harold C. "Doc" Skibicki, age 85, passed away on September 20, 2014 at 4000 Valley Square-Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND. Harold was born August 21, 1929 to Stanley and Matilda (Holwerda) Skibicki. He was raised and educated in rural Fordville, ND. Harold enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to Fordville he was employed in farm related work. On June 11, 1959 he married Mary Ellen Trosen at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Conway, ND. The couple lived in rural Gilby, ND, where they were employed. "Doc" took over the family farm and they moved to Fordville in 1960 where they built their home. The couple spent several winters in Texas. Upon retirement they moved to Grand Forks. Harold was a member of the Rotnem-Abel Post #274, American Legion. He is survived by a brother Donald (Charlotte) Skibicki of Britt, MN; sisters, Arlene Vein of Grand Forks, and Dorothy Smestad of Fordville; sisters-in-law, Laurel Skibicki and Mary Trosen, both of Fordville; brother-in-law, Harold Trosen, Lake Park, MN; along with several nieces and nephews. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Marvin. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior at Havig-Heen Auditorium, 4000 Valley Square in Grand Forks. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fordville, ND.
