Waldon A. Jensen, 83, of Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Waldon August Jensen was born on July 19, 1931 in Rugby, ND the son of August F. and Agnes (Bakken) Jensen. He lived in Rugby for a short time with his family before moving to Grand Forks and graduating from Central High School. Waldon attended UND and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. During his time at UND he played on the hockey team and was a Golden Gloves Boxer. Waldon served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged. He married Patricia Fee on April 23, 1953 at St. Michael's Church in Grand Forks. They lived in many places throughout the country before settling in Grand Forks. Waldon worked as a banker for US Bank for 37 years before retiring. No matter what community he lived in he was very active, volunteering with Boy Scouts and many other organizations. Waldon was very proud of the fact that he had the opportunity to attend the Boy Scout World Jamboree in France with his father. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and water skiing at Maple Lake, sometimes in his tennis shoes. He is survived by his wife Patricia"Pat" of Grand Forks; three sons, Mark (Mary) of College Station, TX, Gregg (Melody), Fargo and Jon (Linda Bata), Grand Forks; three daughters, Gail (Bill) Schmisek of Grand Forks, Jodi (Jim Vittitoe) Jensen of Sioux Falls and Karen (Charles) Schuler of Grand Forks; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Mac) Pace, Jesse (Brittany) Martinez, Alexis Schmisek, Jake (Brandy) Jensen, Cassie Schmisek, Anna Schmisek, Ian Schuler and Sean (Trisha) Schuler; six great grandsons, Carter, Xander, Logan, Dominic, Matthew and Gabriel; and Waldon's loyal dog, Sugar. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Winston and Winfield. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Altru Hospice or the Sunshine House. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10:30 AM in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 524 5th Ave N., Grand Forks. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service in the church. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks.
