Nicholas John Heilman, 84 of Grand Forks ND passed away October 8, 2014 at Valley Eldercare, Grand Forks ND. Nicholas (NicklNickie) John Heilman was born March 13 1930 on the family farm in Reno Valley Township, Pierce County, ND to John and Mary (Rieger) Heilman. He was raised and educated in Rugby ND, graduating from Rugby High School in 1948. He served in the US Navy from July 1951 to July 1955 during the Korean War and served 4 years in Naval Reserve. He was united in marriage to Lorna Aus September 28,1951, in Rugby, ND. Nick attended the Northwestern Television & Electronic Institute in Minneapolis MN and was employed in television and electronics field most of his life. Working for Lyric Theater and Striefel Electric in Rugby, ND. TV& Radio Clinic, Smith Appliance, Bristol Distributing & SRT in Minot. Retiring after 30 years with SRT. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with his dog Betsy, photography, family history & Genealogy and above all spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorna of Grand Forks ND. Sons: Gary, Detroit Lakes, MN, Bruce (Michele) Brainerd, MN, Scott (Michele) Grand Forks ND. Grandchildren: Michael (Anita) Heilman Seoul, So. Korea, Ryan Heilman, Fond du Lac, WI, Cassandra (Jason) Traxinger, Minot, ND, Christopher (Jen) Heilman, Fargo ND, Nic & Ryan Heilman, Grand Forks ND. Greatgranddaughters, Lillia Heilman, Brainerd, MN & Luna Traxinger, Minot, ND. Sisters Irene Olson, East Grand Forks, MN, Alma Kirchofner, Minot, ND and brother Albert Heilman, San Diego, CA. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents & brother Ferdinand (Freddie) Heilman. Graveside services will take place at 10:00 a.m., October 25th at the Rosehill Memorial Park Cemetery indoor chapel in Minot, ND, with military honors.
