Lawrence Kennedy

Lawrence P. Kennedy, 80, Grand Forks, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Grand Forks, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born July 2, 1934 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Eugene M. Kennedy and Viola (Perrault) Mostad. Larry joined the US Navy and served in the Korean War. After discharge from the Navy, Larry worked many jobs including 20 years with Regal Shoes. Anyone who knew him was sure to have heard one of his many shoe stories. Larry enjoyed playing pool, painting and spending time with his coffee friends at Choice Fitness. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his sons, Larry Jr., Grand Forks, Guy (Chris), Chicago, IL; his daughters, Susan Murphy, Dallas, TX, Cherie (Mark) McLaren, Grand Forks, Kim Kennedy, Newton, NC, and Laura Aldridge (Jeff Smith), Grand Forks; step-daughters, Malissa Vanderhoff, and Jessica (Eric) Furuglyas, both living in Pennsylvania, and Sharon (Chad) Huebner, Grand Forks; brother, Jack (Betty) Kennedy; sisters, Kathy (Keith) Sterling, Maryanne (Joe) Mielczarek; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Michael and Gene. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM Sunday, October 12, 2014 with a Memorial Service at 7 PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Burial will be 11:30 AM Monday in Calvary Cemetery north of Grand Forks. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #157, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
