Mary Agnes Brumleve

Mary Agnes Brumleve, 84, Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her home at Parkwood Senior Living. Mary Agnes Zelka was born February 17, 1930 in Hardin, MT; the daughter of Raymond and Ursula (Janskovitch) Zelka. She was raised and educated in Hardin and graduated from Hardin high school. Mary completed her nurses training and graduated as a Registered Nurse in St Cloud, MN. She worked for one year as a nurse, then went on to further her education by earning her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Louis University School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. Mary worked as the supervisor of the OB-GYN department at City Hospital in St. Louis. Mary married Stanley Brumleve on May 25, 1955 in St. Louis. They moved to Grand Forks, ND in 1957. She raised her children in Grand Forks. Mary was past President and an active member of the University of North Dakota Faculty Wives. She and Stanley were charter members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks where Mary was very involved in music and liturgy and taught CCD for many years. She also sang in the Grand Forks Choral Union, the Church Women United Choir, and in more recent years, the Parkwood Choir. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing all of her children's clothing. Mary also enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and many varied crafts. Mary and Stan's family enjoyed spending summer weekends at their beloved cabin on Strawberry Lake. Mary is survived by her husband, Stanley, Grand Forks; daughters, Theresa (William) McMillan, Jamestown, ND, Marcia (Craig) Kluck, Rochester, MN and Cynthia (Alan) Wynne, Topeka, KS; son, Michael (Karen) Brumleve, Topeka, KS; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Zelka, Billings, MT, Thomas Zelka, Hardin, MT and James (Marilyn) Zelka, Hardin, MT; brother-in-law, John Dracon , White Sulfur Springs, MT and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ursla Jean Dracon; an infant brother, Robert and two sisters-in-law, Peg Zelka and Rosemarie Zelka. Visitation will be Friday, October 17, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary followed by a Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation continue one hour before the Funeral Mass in the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
