Robert Olson

September 8, 1945 — October 15, 2014

Robert "Bob" Olson was born to Albert and Minerva (Agotness) Olson on Sept. 8, 1945, and died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at the age of 69. He was a lifelong Grand Forks resident. Bob served in the Army Reserves as a medic and attended UND. He taught 41½ years at Twining Elementary/Middle School at the GFAFB, where he also coached 7/8 grade football and track. He was very proud of the fact that Twining was the only school he taught at as he loved the Base parents, staff, and especially the kids. He was also co-owner of the painting company Integrity ONE. He really enjoyed Sioux sports and Minnesota sports, especially the Vikings. He enjoyed his time at Big Turtle Lake, Bemidji, MN, and was a member of United Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and served on a number of committees. His dogs were his pride and joy. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Marlyne, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and several canine companions. He is survived by his wife Jennifer (Innes) of 47 years, his two children Amy (Christina) Waters, Mark (Lisa) and grandson Connor, his brother Ron (Rose) and sister Marlys (Rodney) Kjellberg, along with many nieces and nephews, and his Boston Terriers, Toby and Gabi. He will be greatly missed and held in our hearts forever. His service will be held at United Lutheran Church on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at 11am with visitation an hour before the service. Spreading of his ashes will take place at a later date. If considering a memorial, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
