Vivian M Brown

Vivian M. Bartholomew Brown, age 94, formerly of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on November 4, 2014 in Selma, CA. Vivian M. Swenson, was born in Grafton, ND, to J. Leonard and Jennie (Mork) Swenson. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1938. In December of 1938, she married Dan Bartholomew. They resided in St. Thomas, Fordville, Grafton, and Grand Forks and were married 42 years. Vivian and Joseph Brown, Fontana, CA, were married in 1986. They remained lifelong friends until Joe's passing. Vivian was a member of homemakers group and belonged to churches in St Thomas, Grafton, and Fordville. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Vivian moved to Tulare, CA in 2008 to be with her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Wayne Swanson. She was a resident of Bethel Lutheran Home in Selma, CA, at the time of her passing. Vivian is survived by her three children, Darrel (Donna) Bartholomew, Mayville, ND, Shirley Aafedt, O'Fallon, IL, and Marjorie (Wayne) Swanson, Tulare, CA; grandchildren, Donald (Margie) Bartholomew, Portland, ND, Dana (Jeff) Bachmeier, Mayville, ND, Dori Bartholomew, Durham, NC, Dena (Dave) Carey, Wahpeton, ND, David (Melissa) Bartholomew, Grand Forks, Brad (Gayle) Aafedt, Grand Forks, Jennifer (Craig) Ord, O'Fallon, IL, Robin (David) Burke, Hollister, CA, Randi (Allen) Hampton, San Diego, CA, and Raeanne (Joshua) Barrs, Sacramento, CA; Sisters, Jean Baird, Woodburn, OR, Alice Gantt, Hendersonville, NC, and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant granddaughter. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
