Darcy Kay Mutscher

Darcy Kay (Appell) Mutscher, age 50, passed away at Sanford Medical Center on Friday December 12th, 2014, surrounded by family. Darcy was born November 14th, 1964 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to James and Shirley Appell. She grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1983. On November 18th, 1994 she married Donald Andrew Mutscher. She was employed at UND, then became a daycare provider and recently worked at Gamma Phi Beta and River Cities Speedway. Darcy loved being a volleyball and hockey mom for many years and enjoyed going to the Sioux hockey games. She also enjoyed spending time out at the race track, bowling, watching Don's softball games and most importantly, her family. Darcy is survived by her husband of 20 years, Don Mutscher, her two brothers Robert "Bob" Appell, Woodward OK, and Tim (Angela) Appell, Wahpeton, ND, three sisters, Vicky Brentin, Gig Harbor, WA, Sandra Kemnitz, Grand Forks, ND, and Tammy (Brad Gilbertson) Obregon, Grand Forks, ND. Her children, Tanner (Kayla Odstrcil) Mutscher, Shaye Mutscher (Madeline Pond), Emily Mutscher, Milette (Larry) Lafferty, Crystal (Jason Busick) Mutscher, Andy (Kaylee Washburn) Mutscher all from Grand Forks, ND. Her six grandchildren Jordan, Jaxon, Avery, Gracie, Allen (Bubba), and Lexi. Along with several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents James and Shirley Appell and a niece Ashley Marie Obregon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at the United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:30PM with a prayer service at 7:30PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd, Grand Forks. Interment will be in the Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
