John P. Jensen, 89, Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Larimore Good Samaritan Nursing Center. John was born April 21, 1925 in Grand Forks, the son of John, Sr. and Laura (Dewey) Jensen. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks. John served in the U. S. Army during WWII in Italy and Africa. After the war, he returned to Grand Forks. He married Marvel Johnson on January 24, 1948 in East Grand Forks, MN. They resided in Grand Forks where John worked in auto body repair. He also worked in construction with Valley Contracting for many years. He retired as a crew foreman. John enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family at Maple Lake, MN and later Twin Lakes, MN. Survivors include his wife, Marvel, Grand Forks; children, Sue (Ed) Vincent, WV, Richard (Melissa) Jensen, Grand Forks, Roger (Kris) Jensen, Ottawa, KS, Cathie (Henry) Arnold, East Grand Forks, MN, Cindy (Bob) Clemenson, Crookston, MN, Randy Jensen, Fargo, ND and Steven Jensen, Grand Forks; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Donna Goodell, Spokane, WA; brothers, Jackie Jensen, Spokane, WA, William Jensen, Lake Havasu, AZ and Gerald Jensen, Lake Havasu, AZ. John was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Peggy Jackson; son, John Jensen III; grandchildren, Julie Jensen and Milissa Jones; sisters, Mary Jane and Esther; brothers, Edward, Allen and Bernard. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 18, 2014 in Augustana Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks. Military honors will be provided by the North Dakota Army National Guard, The American Legion Post #157 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3817.
