Atha Lee "Lee" Marifjeren

Atha Lee "Lee" M. Marifjeren, 81, of Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 in 4000 Valley Square - Woodside Village, Grand Forks. Atha Lee Marie Humes was born in Courtenay, ND on November 6, 1933 the daughter of Harold and Elna (Backer) Humes. She grew up and attended school in Courtenay and graduated from her class as Valedictorian. She married Ralph Lulay on Feb. 9, 1953 in Wimbledon, ND, he passed away on June 6, 1972. Lee married Allyn Marifjeren on May 25, 1973 in Grand Forks, ND where they made their home. In retirement Allyn and Lee traveled extensively, circling the globe 9 ½ times around the world. Lee and Allyn spent their winters in the Palm Springs, CA area for 21 years. Lee also enjoyed spending time with her family and especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Allyn; son; Gregory Lulay, Bellingham, WA; daughter, Cathey (Ray) Tozer, Thompson, ND; brother, Alvin(Jean) Humes, Jamestown, ND; grandchildren, Jessi Tozer, Joe Lulay, Jared Tozer , JoriLee Bushaw; and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at 1:30PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd st., Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the funeral home.
