Marilyn Staveteig Wansbutter

Marilyn (Staveteig) Wansbutter, age 60 of Winnipeg, MB, passed away Sunday January 4, 2015 in her home. Marilyn was born October 5, 1954 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (O'Hearn) Staveteig. She was a 1972 graduate of Red River High school in Grand Forks, ND. She worked in the Grand Forks area until marrying Christopher Wansbutter on April 24, 1982. The couple settled in Winnipeg, MB where Marilyn worked many years until retiring from EDS. Marilyn was a talented artist focusing on crafting jewelry, pottery and painting. She brought joy to all those she came in contact with through her caring and loving interactions. She took great pleasure in spending time with family and friends and loved going back to the farm and lake. Survivors include her parents; her father-in-law, Edward (Elena) Wansbutter; her brothers, Timothy (Catherine) Staveteig, David (Brenda) Staveteig; her sisters, Rebecca (John) Schmidt, Beverly (Kelly) Tompers; her brother-in-law, Rick (Barb) Wansbutter; and sister-in-law, Antoinette (Ray) Ciwko. Her many nieces and nephews will miss her greatly. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Chris; and her brother, Dale Staveteig. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9th at the Gloria Dei church in Winnipeg. A remembrance service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND on Saturday, January 10th at 2:00 PM. The family requests in lieu of flowers and memorials, donations be made to the churches or the American Diabetes Association.
