Carolyn (Cari) Odegard

Carolyn (Cari) Odegard passed away peacefully from Alzheimer's Disease which was diagnosed the summer of 2010 at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Madonna Care Facility, Rochester, Minnesota. She was just 74 years old. Carolyn Anne Garner was born in Timmons, Ontario on May 29, 1940, the daughter of the late John "Jack" and Annie "Nancy" Garner. Cari was the widow of Jim Odegard. Cari and Jim enjoyed 48 years of marriage before Jim's passing on September 1, 2009. Cari is the mother of Lori Odegard, Rochester, Minnesota and Eric (Lynn) Odegard, Sarasota, Florida. She has five grandkids, Rachel, Eric, Jr. (E.J.), Kylie, Rogan, and Sutton. Other family members include a step-granddaughter, Karina Glazier; a brother Ed (Cathy) Garner; sister-in-laws, JoAnn (Lyle) Samuelson and Diane (wife of the late John) Odegard. She successfully accomplished the 20 year Anniversary in her AA story in December, 2014. Cari enjoyed sharing her story of strength and hope through the many AA meetings she participated in during her journey in recovery. The family extends sincere gratitude to the caring and dedicated staff on the Madonna Care Facility, Rochester, Minnesota during her last four and a half years. Memorial Services: 12:00 noon on Friday, January 9, 2015 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, North Dakota, with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bethel Lutheran Church, Rochester, Minnesota, or the Alzheimer's Association for their continuation of research in finding a cure.
