Sidney Rosholt

Sidney M. Rosholt, 93, of Buxton, ND died Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN. Sidney Manford Rosholt was born on April 2, 1921 in Mayville, ND the son of Severin and Mary (Nelson) Rosholt. He grew up and attended school in rural Mayville. Sidney married Geneva Natwick on June 17, 1944. He founded Rosholt Gravel and Excavating where he worked until his retirement. Sidney was the Mayor of Buxton and city council member, Buxton Volunteer Fire Department, Buxton Improvement Association where he received the Governor's Leadership Award; he served on the Central Valley School Board, served on the Immanuel Lutheran Church council and was a Traill County Commissioner. Sid was known as a terrific mechanic and welder. He loved working in his shop behind his house but always had time for others who would often stop by to visit or go for coffee. Mostly, Sid was known as a soft spoken, kind and caring man who was a mentor and role model to many. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and spending time with family. He was an especially loving Grandpa who never missed an opportunity to show his support. He will be greatly missed. Sidney is survived by son, Gene (Jean) Rosholt of Buxton; daughters, Nancy (Tom) Newcomb of Buxton, Patsy (Kim) Hobeck of Soldotna, AK; brother, Melvin (Marlys) Rosholt of Grand Forks; sister, Olga Eichhorst of Grand Forks; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; son, Randy; infant children, Ronnie and Loretta; and sister Blenda Egge and brothers-in-law Joe Egge and Elroy Eichhorst. Funeral services will be 10:30AM on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, ND. Visitation will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7PM. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery South, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
