Lorraine Quale, 86, of Grand Forks, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Lorraine was born August 27, 1928, in Fairdale, ND, the daughter of Thornstein & Louise (Swennby) Haug. She graduated from Fairdale High School and attended Moorhead State University where she received her teaching degree. She married Francis Quale June 10, 1960. They made their home in Grand Forks. Francis passed away in 1997. Lorraine taught school in Minnesota prior to moving to Grand Forks. She taught at Washington and Kelly schools before retiring in 1990. After her retirement, she began volunteering in the Kelly Library. She continued working in the library until 1998 and was awarded the Nelson-Miller Award for her services. Lorraine is survived by her sister, Murial Ditty; nephew, Terry (Kari) Ditty; great-niece, Sarah Anna Ditty; special friends Robert & Myrna Noss and Jennifer Noss. She was preceded in death by her husband. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND
