Roger James Bakke

Roger J. Bakke, 76, of Grand Forks, passed away March 14, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Roger James Bakke was born March 19, 1938, in Portland, ND, the son of Joseph & Ida (Hefta) Bakke. He grew up and graduated from Portland High School in 1957. He served in the US Army for several years. Following his service he married Marjane Berg in 1964. Together they raised 4 children. Roger worked for Rydell's for 38 years before his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, playing bingo, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Roger is survived by his children, Cindy (Darin) Gador of Thompson, Jeff (Kim) Bakke of Grand Forks, Brad (Diane Magnuson) Bakke of Grand Forks; siblings, Norman (Grace) Bakke of Portland, ND, Ray Bakke of Portland, Marilyn Cook of IL, Sandy (Paul) Eliason of Portland; 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Lacey, Breanna, Bailey and Emily; 1 great-grandson, Kellen; daughter-in-law, Pam Bakke of Fargo, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott; siblings, Janet, Irene and Perry. FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND.
