Betty Hein

Betty C. Hein, 84, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at her Grand Forks home under the care of her family and Altru Hospice. Betty Christine Davis was born May 27, 1930, the daughter of Lawrence and Laura (Samuelson) Davis. She was raised in Auburn, ND, and graduated from Grafton High School in 1948. On November 7, 1949 she married Marvin C. "Bud" Hein in Grafton. They moved to Lankin, ND in 1953 where they raised their four daughters. While in Lankin, Betty was a 4-H leader and active in the Walsh County Fair for a number of years. She also worked at Park River Dry Cleaners in Alterations. She was an active member of Lankin Trinity Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school there. Betty was an excellent seamstress. After moving to Grand Forks in 1975 she worked at Silvermans as an alterations specialist. Betty also worked as at United Lutheran Day Care as a teacher for 14 years. She was a member of the Bethesda Society and Rebecca Circle at United Lutheran. She was a wonderful quilter and excellent baker. She was known for her delicious brown bread and homemade buns, lefsa, and cookies. Betty is survived by her husband; daughters, Elizabeth Larson, St. Thomas, ND, Susan Martel, Las Vegas, NV, Adele (Lawrence) Burianek, Grafton, ND; son-in-law, Davey Ingram, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Lisa Oby, Brandon Oby, both of St. Thomas, ND, Morgen (Scott) Shaff, Colorado, Nathan (Geina) Martell, Las Vegas, Brent (Marci) Larson, CA, Nicole (Nickolas) Echler, PA, Anthony (Kellie) Burianek, Grafton, ND, Lori (Marc) Mohagen, East Grand Forks, MN; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Curran, Thief River Falls, MN; several nieces and nephews. She was welcomed in to heaven by her parents, daughter, Barbara Ingram, grandson and his wife, Jeremy and Lee Hein, sister, Helen Thorp, brothers, Leland and Roger, and son-in-law, Warren Larson. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be at a later date.
