Rebecca Ann Deutsch

Rebecca Ann Deutsch, 61, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on March 31, 2015. She died peacefully with her family by her side after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Born March 24, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas, she was the daughter of Marvin and Dormilee (Moore) Diede. She grew up in Bismarck, ND and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1972. In high school, she was part of the Demonettes Dance Team. She attended college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where she studied Education. She met her future husband, William Deutsch while attending school at UND. Bill and Becky were married on December 18, 1976 at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit church in Bismarck, ND. She spent her early career years working as a kindergarten and Title 1 teacher in Grand Forks area schools. In 1982, they moved to Minot, ND where Becky devoted her time to raising her three children. She later worked in the Minot Public School system as a Title 1 teacher. She was known as a dedicated and passionate educator. Becky was an avid reader and Sioux sports fan. She dedicated much of her time and energy to family members, especially Riley, her only grandchild. Becky is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bill; father Marv Diede; sister Susan (Mark) Payne; brother Dennis Diede; daughter Katie (Craig) Nelson; son Casey Deutsch; daughter Ann Deutsch; granddaughter Riley Nelson as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Dee Diede. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7 at The St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, located at 410 Cambridge Street in Grand Forks. The service will be followed immediately by a luncheon at the Newman Center.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Altru Cancer Center at 960 South Columbia Road, Grand Forks, ND 58102.
