Richard E. Trenbeath, 92, passed away on April 7, 2015, in McVille, ND at the Nelson County Care Center. Richard was born in Neche, ND to William and Ona Trenbeath. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Asiatic/Pacific Theatre and was decorated with several medals. After the war, he married Grace B. Kuehner in Grand Forks, ND on March 2, 1946. He graduated from the North Dakota University in 1950 with a B.S. and Electrical Engineering Degree. In March, 1951, he moved his family to Rockford, Illinois, where he and Grace raised six children. He worked for the Barber-Coleman Company, where he worked as a Principal Electrical Engineer and Scientist and Senior Control Systems Engineer. He served on several national committees, had a lifetime membership in Sigma Tau and Tau Beta Pi national honorary societies, and was a member of the national honorary scientific society, Sigma Xi for many years. He enjoyed his retirement in Cottonwood, AZ and Grand Forks, ND and was an avid UND hockey fan. Richard is survived by daughters Rita Salmons, Urbandale, IA; Cynthia (Mitchell) Sandoz, Cheyenne, WY; Beth Parentice (Patrick Goeckner), Rockford, IL; son, Richard (Kristin) Trenbeath, Jr., Marietta, GA; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren with one due any time; brother, Robert (Marge) Trenbeath, Glendale, AZ; numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife Grace; daughter, Pamela Jordan; son, Daniel Trenbeath; his parents and four brothers. The family wishes to thank Noel Letexier, Marion Smith, the staff of Comfort Keepers, the Grand Forks Senior Center, Altru Hospital, the Grand Forks VA, the Nelson County System Health Care Center, Amundson Funeral Home, and Doctors Mark Peterson and Jonathan Berg for their compassionate care for and support to our father and family. A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at the Union Cemetery, Neche, ND.
