Peter Stumpf

April 19, 1921 — April 7, 2015

Peter J. Stumpf beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was called home by our Lord on Tuesday April 7, 2015 just 12 days short of his 94th birthday. Pete was born in Mandan, North Dakota. He was one of twelve siblings. He married Florence Kraft on July 9th, 1942. Shortly after, he was called to serve in World War II. He was stationed overseas for 2 ½ years. After returning, he worked for the North Dakota state highway department in Bismarck, ND until 1957. He then moved to Larimore, ND to work for the civil service department at the Grand Forks Air Force Base as manager of snow removal and grounds maintenance until he retired in 1978. He and wife were active members of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. After retiring, he enjoyed many years of fishing, antiquing, woodworking and socializing. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Florence; his sister, Marge Olson (Bob) of Fargo ND; sister-in-law, Jean Kraft of Mandan, ND; 3 children, Jerri Marks of Rio Rancho, NM, Judi Wilmot (Bob) of Rugby, ND, Jeff Stumpf (Pam) of Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, April 10, 2015 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at the Havig Heen Auditorium Chapel of Valley Memorial Home, 4000 Valley Square in Grand Forks. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery of Larimore, ND. Military honors will be provided by the Larimore American Legion and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
