Henrietta Hensrud

Henrietta Hensrud, 73, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at home. Henrietta Minnie Stark, the daughter of Carl and Meta (Adhers) Stark was born on January 1, 1942 on the family farm at Rural Fisher, Minnesota. At the age of 5 years she moved with her family to Rural Crookston, Minnesota. She attended country school for 5 years and then went to Crookston schools, graduating from Crookston Central High School in 1959. She grew up attending Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston, also sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school there for many years. Her first job was a nurse's aide in Bethesda Nursing Home, Crookston. She later took a computer keypunch course in Fargo and then worked at Montana Dakota Utilities for 12 ½ years. Henrietta married Elroy Hensrud on April 21, 1979 in Crookston, Minnesota, then moved to Elroy's farm near Mekinock, ND. She joined Ness Lutheran Church after she was married and was active in Ness Ladies Aide and taught Sunday School there for many years also. Their first daughter Rebecca was born in 1981 and their second daughter Debra was born in 1985. After the girls were born she cleaned many houses in the area, later went to work at the Larimore Nursing Home as a cook and also earned her CNA license. She worked in the kitchen and also part time custodial work at Carl Ben Eielson School, and was employed there for 17 years before she retired in 2010. In 2009 Henrietta moved from the farm into Grand Forks. It was quite a change for her, but she loved living closer to her kids and grandkids. She has also been working in the lunchroom at Century Elementary School in Grand Forks for the past couple years, and watching her grandson after school. Henrietta's pride and joy were here children and grandchildren. She was the most loving and caring Mom and Grandma that anyone could have ever asked for. She will be dearly missed by all. Henrietta is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Brandon) Thorvilson, Debra (Jimmy) Weber , both of Grand Forks; two grandchildren, Adam and Alyssa, and a third grandchild due to arrive in July; sisters, Hilda (Orval) Hatlestad, Crookston, MN, and Emilie (Ronnie) Pederson, Beltrami, MN; sister-in-law, Yvonne Collins, Grand Forks; brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Gerda) Hensrud, and Merlyn (Sharon) Hensrud, Mekinock, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elroy, who died in October, 1999, sister, Ursula Dans; brothers in law, Leslie Dans, and Bervin Collins. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 in Ness Lutheran Church, Mekinock, ND. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17th at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks with a 5:00 p.m. Prayer Service and for the hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Ness Lutheran Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to Ness Lutheran Church.
