Harris A. "Harry" Anderson, 88, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in Vibra Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. Harris Alfred Anderson, the son of Hans and Alvilde (Paulson) Anderson was born in Grand Forks on November 1, 1926. He grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Central High School in Grand Forks. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Harris graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Civil Engineering. He went to work for a consulting firm, Freese, Nichols & Turner, Houston, TX. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an expert draftsman and employed as an engineer by Northern Construction, J J Nagel Construction, and since 1964 by Sand Steel Building Company, becoming an owner of the company in 1986. He married Eileen Nannen on March 10, 1967. Harris was very fond of his family. Harris loved gardening and volunteering, especially as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. He was a member Grand Forks Builders and Traders, ND Society of Professional Engineers, the Grand Forks American Legion, 40 & 8, Malta Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and was Past Potentate of Kem Shrine in 1990, he was also a member of the Kem Drum and Bugle Corps. Harris is survived by his wife, Eileen, Grand Forks; a brother, David (Donna) Anderson, Venice, FL, a sister, Elsie Mae (Jim) Anderson, Bellevue, WA; step-children, Ron (Sharon) McLean, Orem, Utah, Don (Mary) McLean, Gainesville, FL, Betsy Polhamus, Boynton Beach, FL, John (Karen Scott), McLean, Murrieta, CA. Harris was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 with a 6:30 p.m. Masonic Lodge Service in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Interment with military honors will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
