Marlan Kenneth Alberts

Marlan "Al" Kenneth Alberts, 84, of Grand Forks, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Altru Hosptial in Grand Forks, ND. Marlan was born January 25, 1931, in Hawley, MN, the son of Ralph & Mae (Colby) Alberts. He grew up and attended schools in Moorhead, MN. Marlan entered his career of serving in the USAF in 1950. He retired from the Air Force in 1979, obtaining the rank of Chief Master Sgt. He married Patricia Ness on February 2, 1957, in Wolverton, MN. Patricia died in 1979. Marlan enjoyed spending time with his children & grandchildren, fishing, watching the MN Twins, NFL and College football. He was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Alberts, Lowell (Sherry) Alberts, Midge (Corey) Birkholz; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rachel Johnson and Sharon Hyde; brother, Wayne Alberts. Marlan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, and brothers, Daryl, Richard and Duane. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30th, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND.
