James F. Gibbs, age 84, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at his home in Grand Forks. James was born January 29, 1931, the son of Francis and Emma (Erkel) Gibbs in Le Center, Minnesota. He graduated from Le Center High School in 1948 and married Adelyne Sorensen on June 9, 1951. James and Adelyne and family owned and operated several businesses in Grand Forks including the national award winning A&W Drive-In, Figaro's Pizza, and Residual Materials Incorporated. James was a charter member of Faith Evangelical Free Church where he remained active until his death. He served on several national boards with A&W; enjoyed fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family. James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Adelyne; sons Dustin (Arlyce); and Mitchell (Jode); 8 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Gibbs (Kilkenny, MN) and two sisters, Mildred Derauf (Montgomery, MN) Marilyn Klefsaas (Minneapolis, MN). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in his name be directed to Riverside Christian School, East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Memorial Service: 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 1400 24th Ave. South in Grand Forks, Rev. Victor Luiken officiating. Visitation and Reception: Will take place immediately after the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
