Eileen C. Sand

Eileen C. Vold Sand (formerly Schroeder, Einum) passed away on June 9, 2015 in Rice Lake, WI. She was born in Grand Forks, ND to Clarence and Ida (Nilson) Vold on February 16, 1929, and grew up on her family's grain farm near Mekinock, ND. Eileen married Lowell Schroeder in 1950. They moved from North Dakota to Rice Lake, Wisconsin in 1965 and operated J & L Shoes. She enjoyed her work selling clothing at Seifert's, and as a store manager at Maurice's after her sons were in school. Eileen loved to bake, shop, spend evenings at the Elk's Club, and escape the cold winters to visit Las Vegas. Eileen is survived by her three sons, Craig Schroeder, Mark (Lori) Schroeder and Dwight Schroeder, grandchildren Lindsey (John) Powell and Evan Schroeder, and great-grandson William Powell. She was preceded in death by husbands Lowell Schroeder, Elmer Einum and Lawrence Sand, her parents, and siblings Eleanor Finnie, Neil Vold, Jonnell Vold and her twin brother, Clayton Vold. The family would like to thank the staff of the Rice Lake Convalescent Center, Lakeview Medical Center and Valley Memorial Homes for their care and kindness to Eileen. A Memorial Service will be held at the Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks on Monday, June 15 at 10:30 AM with a visitation in the hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.
