Lucas Dan Courchene, 33, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 29th at his home in Grand Forks. He was born on April 12, 1982 in Williston and was raised near Corinth on the family farm. Lucas attended Wildrose/Alamo High School and Williston State College. Lucas learned the trade of cement finishing from his father, working for Courchene Construction and other companies in North Dakota. He lived for a time in Miles City, Montana as well as in Williston and Grand Forks. Lucas is survived by his father, Dana Courchene of Williston; his mother, Carroll Courchene of Grand Forks; his brother, Charlie Courchene and wife Sarah of Grand Forks; his daughter, Dylan of Williston; his aunt and uncle Rebecca and Randy Dukart of Corinth, whom he often referred to as his second parents; their daughter, Danielle Struckness of Williston, and his aunt Delores Clark of Grand Forks. He also leaves to mourn his loss his long-time companion, Savannah Finnicum of Velva and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Lucas was known by all for his bright and inquisitive mind; he never lost his love of learning and acquiring new information. He was a constant resource for his family and friends and was a skilled computer technician and programmer. Lucas loved many genres of music; he was a talented guitarist who had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for mimicry. He also enjoyed nature and spending time outdoors. His presence in our lives will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at the Alliance Gospel Chapel in Wildrose at 2 pm on Saturday, July 11th with Pastor Gregory Knopp officiating.
