Don Z. Fore, Grand Forks, ND died Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Don was born January 29, 1921 in South Pasadena, CA to Zaner and Helen (Merk) Fore. He grew up in Alameda, CA. Soon after his high school graduation, he joined the U. S. Navy. Don was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He served aboard numerous ships over his 20 year military career, stationed mostly in California and Alaska. Don retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1957. He later owned and operated his own boat as a commercial fisherman in both Oregon and California. He moved to Grand Forks in his later years to be near his family. Don enjoyed horse racing, watching baseball and football, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include his daughters, Dawn Fore and Diane Fore, both of East Grand Forks, MN; two grandchildren, Cole Orthaus and Taylor Orthaus, East Grand Forks, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Interment will be in the Chapel of the Chimes columbarium in Oakland, CA
