Erna Gladue

Erna S. Gladue, 79, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Erna Sophie Steinke was born to Adolph and Emma (Wagner) Steinke on July 9, 1935 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was raised near Neche, North Dakota and was employed as a waitress at Neche, and later doing fieldwork on farms. She married George Gladue on July 9, 1952 at Neche. They moved to Grand Forks in the mid 1950's. Erna enjoyed creating artificial flower arrangements, doing puzzles, sewing, baking, and helping to decorate for weddings and anniversaries. She is survived by her husband, George, Grand Forks; sisters, Beatrice Hanson (Daryl), Grand Forks, and Susan Bartlette (Harold), Fargo, ND; several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Stienke, an uncle, Hugo Schmidt, a niece, Choly Tamke, and a nephew, Tray Hertenstein. Services will be: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. With visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
