Kent Louis Yearke

Kent Louis Yearke, 65, of Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Shirkey Leisure Acres in Richmond, MO. Kent was born March 7, 1950, the son of Louis and Dorothy (Knutsvig) Yearke in Grand Forks, ND, where he grew up and lived all of his life. He worked at Red Owl and Leever's Grocery stores until his retirement. Kent enjoyed talking to people. He would stop and tell anyone that he knew all about what was going on in his life on that particular day. In fact, even if he didn't know the person, if he had the chance he would inform that person all about that what going on in his life. Kent was also a collector of stuff. Stuff like record albums, especially the ones with pictures of pretty females on them. He collected rubber toy animals, statues of angels, stuffed animals and TV characters, and more. His favorites were the toy stuffed puppy and dog animals. His mother taught him to play chords on a piano or organ. He often entertained himself or anyone else who was around with his music. He lived at home with his parents until his father died just 6 short months after his mother had moved to a nursing home. He then moved to St. Anne's Guest Home. It was quite an adjustment for him. He had lost his home, his father, and pretty much his mother. St Anne's treated him very well and in time he grew to call St. Anne's his home. Kent is survived by numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Louie, on July 25, 2006 and his mother, Dorothy, on December 27, 2008. The family requests that contributions in Kent's memory be made to Saint Anne's Guest Home. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT: Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
