William Wimpfheimer

June 4, 1930 — August 6, 2015

William H Wimpfheimer (Bill), 85, passed away peacefully at The Lodge, Elko MN on Thursday, August 6th, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. The son of Harold and Helen (Mann) Wimpfheimer was born and raised in Cavalier, ND and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1948. He married Jaclyn Marto on October 16th, 1959 at the United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND and they were married for 50 years. He was employed by the ND State Mill and elevator for 38 years as a Certified Miller. Bill and Jacky also owned and operated Cleanerama Laundromat and carwash in Grand Forks, ND for many years. Bill loved the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR Racing, planes, trains, and checking the weather. He was a hard worker with strong work ethic and a Jack-of-all-trades. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. Bill loved to take fishing trips to Canada to catch the "big ones". Bill and Jacky enjoyed their many vacations with his brother Ron. Throughout their retirement they enjoyed beautiful sunsets and peaceful evenings at Cass Lake, MN. He was a devoted son, caring for his dad, a devoted husband caring for wife, in the final years of their lives. He was a caring father and his smile and personality will be missed by all. In 2006 Bill and Jacky moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to family. In 2009 he lost his loving wife, Jacky, of 50 years. In 2013 he met Loretta Saunders, Hastings, MN who was his loving companion in his final years. Survived by sons, Richard (Albq, NM); Steve (Kathy), Billings, MT; Shane (RoAnn), Cottage Grove, MN; and daughters, Dianna (Steve) Wald, Austin, MN; Tammy (Mike) Medcraft, Rosemount, MN; Brenda (Jerry) McCarthy, Hampton, MN; Julie (Steve) Carlson, Denver, Co. Bill had 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one brother, Ronald Wimpfheimer, North Platte, NE and two sisters, Janice Marto and Sharon (Steve) Byzewski and two special aunts, Virginia, Cavalier, ND and Francis, Falcon, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and Brother Jerry, Sister June, and granddaughter Amber Carlson. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 11th, 2015 at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND following the service.
