Donna Herndon

Donna M. Herndon, 77, Grand Forks, died Monday, August 10, 2015 after a courageous fight with cancer. Donna Marie Westin, the daughter of John and Alice (Saker) Westin was born in Grand Forks on May 5, 1938. She grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1956. Donna married Ernest Duane Herndon on July 13, 1958 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. They resided in Grand Forks where she was employed by several local companies including Sears, Altru Hospital, Tim Shea's Nursery, and Hugo's. Donna enjoyed baking and canning salsa. She was a longtime member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks and later of Bethany Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks. Donna is survived by her children, Michael (Wendy) Herndon, Bradenton, FL, Sandra JoAnn Herndon, Minneapolis, MN, Gregory (Patricia) Herndon, East Grand Forks, MN; four grandchildren, Chelsey, Matthew, Brady, and Grace; two great-grandchildren, Blane and Randi; a sister, Martha (Westin) Burke, Monticello, MN; brother, John Westin, Farmersville, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernest, who died July 5, 1993, sisters, Margaret and Jean, brother, George. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 10321 State Highway 220 NW, East Grand Forks, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. A luncheon in the church will follow the service. Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
