Lyle F. Anderson

Lyle F. "Punk" Anderson, 87, Grand Forks died peacefully at Altru Hospital on August 12th 2015. Lyle Fraine Anderson was born at the family farm in Glenwood Township, Walsh County on July 16th 1928 to Frank and Clara Anderson. He was the North Dakota state under 18 trap shooting champion and trained as a tank turret gunner when he joined the Army in 1951 during the Korean War. Back home near Grafton, ND he met a pretty young nurse from Winnipeg named Yvonne Selley. They married in 1953 and in 1956 would buy their own farm near Caledonia, ND. After getting hailed out 3 straight years it was time to move to the city. Lyle worked for the Coca-Cola Company until 1975 when he went to work as a mechanic at American Crystal Sugar until his retirement in 1991. He particularly enjoyed deer hunting at the farm with son Kent and a close group of friends. He also enjoyed bird watching, collecting Native American artifacts and watching his chosen stocks on CNBC. He also enjoyed the History channel and watching UND hockey. Mostly he enjoyed the company of his children, eight grandchildren and his best buddy Frederick. We will miss his gentle grace, infectious laugh and bone dry sense of humor. Lyle is survived by his children Clark (Danette) Longmont CO, Beth Anderson-Molde (Jim) Grafton, ND, Scott Grand Forks and Kent (Cindy) Bismarck ND. Eight grandchildren Griffin, Graham, Kinzie, Emily, Jewel, Samantha, Joseph and Madelyn. A sister, Marilyn (Jack) Mattson. The family would also like to thank his care provider of the past 3 years Delores Peterson. He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne, sister Verna Duray, brothers Earl, Willard "Butch", Eldon and granddaughter Sawyer. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
