Eric Edmund McGauvran

Eric McGauvran passed away at his family home on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015. Eric Edmund McGauvran was born on May 6th, 1995 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Robert and JoEllen (Gaarder) McGauvran. He graduated from Thompson High School and was currently attending the University of North Dakota. Eric had many friends and earned the respect of many. However Eric's true passion was spending time with family. While at home, his brother Evan never remembers a time that he and Eric were not together, a sentiment shared by Allison after Evan left for college. He loved spending time at the lakes with his family and friends. Eric's kid at heart was present when he enjoyed his multiple trips to Disney World with his family. Eric was a very passionate, intelligent and athletic young man. Humble, unassuming with a warm, compassionate heart and a willingness to always help others. Whether it was an idea he was unfamiliar with, a musical interest, or a video game, Eric loved to research the topic and learn everything he could about it. Another example of Eric's commitment was the hundreds of hours he spent perfecting his basketball skills. Eric will be missed by many. He is survived by his parents; his brother, Evan (Brianna); sister, Allison; grandparents, Wilbur & JoAnne McGauvran; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and special canine friends, Frosty, Bentley and Kaito that he helped raise and love him very much. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Edmund and Dorothy Gaarder. **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Circle of Friends Humane Society of Grand Forks, or a charity of your choice. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 29 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Thompson, ND. VISITATION: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service Friday, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND 58201. Visitation will continue for the hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT: Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Rural Park River, ND.
