Richard S. Felton, 80, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 in Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Larimore, North Dakota. Richard Stanley Felton, the son of Thomas Edward "Ed" and Blanche (Christianson) Felton was born on August 24, 1935 at Grafton, North Dakota. Richard graduated from Billings High School, Billings, Montana. He served in the US Army from 1954, stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA and Pusan, Korea until he was honorably discharged in 1956. Richard attended UND and later graduated from the National Fire Academy. He married Jolene Manger at Moorhead, Minnesota. He joined the Grand Forks Fire Department in 1959 and retired in 1997 as Battalion Chief. He married Evelyn Pederson on December 23, 1989. He was a member of the Eagles, American Legion Post #157, and VFW Post #3817, and served on the Honor Squad for many years. Richard is survived by his wife, Evelyn Pederson, Grand Forks; daughters, Marie (Shanon) Schauer and Margo (Jon) Berg, all of East Grand Forks, MN; stepsons, Barry (Holly Gabriel) Pederson, Grand Forks, and Tony (Margaret Pasquesi) Pederson, Glenview, IL; granddaughters, Nicole Schauer, East Grand Forks, Heather (Andrew) Vanyo, Northwood, ND, Jess Lentz, East Grand Forks, MN, Sophia Pederson, Glenview, IL, Freya Pederson, Glenview, IL; grandson, Brian Schauer, Grand Forks; great-grandchildren, Kaden Schauer, Jace Schauer, Lexie Lentz, Lily Vanyo, Jason Vanyo, Emma Vanyo, and Anika Vanyo. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ilene Stamness, a brother, Robert Felton. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #157 and VFW Post #3817, East Grand Forks and the ND National Guard Funeral Honors. Inurnment in Memorial Park North Cemetery will be private. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or the Grand Forks YMCA Parkinson Wellness Program.
