Lorraine (Lolly) Wohlfeil, 83, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Lorraine Pearl Guttormson, the daughter of Carl and Clarissa (Torgerson) Guttormson was born December 13, 1931 near Bottineau, North Dakota. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in the Turtle Mountains, and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1949. She married Robert Wohlfeil on June 30, 1949 in Bottineau. They lived in Bottineau until moving to Grand Forks in 1967. After moving to Grand Forks, Lolly held several clerical and staff positions throughout the city. Life threw her an unanticipated challenge when she was widowed at age 39 with five children living at home. Her work at the Opportunity Training Center and life with her children provided meaning and rewards during difficult years. After she retired, Lolly's life revolved around a church whose people and mission she adored and volunteering at several local non-profits and her church up to the day she died, including the Grand Forks Senior Center, Calvary Lutheran Church, and what is now called the Northlands Rescue Mission. In her retirement years, Lolly found herself involved in another task that she enjoyed immensely. She led numerous travel tours throughout the upper Midwest and traveled many times as a tour group leader to Branson. As long as her body allowed, dancing, especially square dancing and line dancing, provided Lolly with great pleasure. Lolly loved following the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and freely gave them advice, whether sought or not, on how to live their lives. And they saw her as an example of a life well lived in service to her God and her neighbors. Lolly is survived by her children, Mary (Scott) Van Camp, Grand Forks; Joel (Rachel) Wohlfeil, San Diego, CA; Michael (Sandy) Wohlfeil, Fargo, ND; and Steve (Mary Ubuntu) Wohlfeil, Racine, WI; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Colleen (Bill) Baumann, Bottineau, ND. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant son, Mark, daughter, Janet Mattison, a brother, Robert, and a sister, Kathleen. Funeral Services will be 10:30 Friday, September 25, 2015 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church or the Grand Forks Senior Center.
