Deane Gary Olson, 66, of Grand Forks passed away on Friday, October 9th at Abbott Northwestern Heart Hospital in Minneapolis, surrounded by his children. Deane was born April 4, 1949 in Cooperstown, ND to parents, Garfield and Evelyn (Rasmusson) Olson of Cooperstown. Deane graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1967 and attended Mayville State College for a time. He married Gloria Miller December 5th, 1970 in Oakland, California. Deane's career encompassed a vast variety of skills. Working as a teenager and young man for Robert Hedstrom Farms in Cooperstown eventually relocating to Grand Forks in Construction and Development as a Project Manager. He married Stephanie McCauley in July 14, 2001 in Mayville, ND. He most recently worked for Dakota Commercial in Grand Forks prior to his retirement. Deane was so proud of his children and his grandchildren were the absolute loves of his life. Things that brought joy to Deane were his "coffee buddies", playing bingo, working on projects, and his cat spanky. Deane is survived by his children, daughter, Jamie (Brian) Moe of West Fargo, ND, son Justin (Gabriela) Olson of New Orleans, LA daughter, Jodi (Mike) Jordheim of St. Paul, MN daughter, Gina Olson of St. Cloud, MN and two grandchildren Duncan James and Addison Deane of West Fargo. Deane is also survived by his siblings, Gale (Rose) Olson of Laughlin, Nevada, Richard Olson, San Tan Valley, AZ, and Jeannie (Larry) Orke of Bottineau, ND. Deane was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Evelyn Olson and many aunts and uncles. A prayer service will be held Monday, October 12th at 7 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home with visitation continuing until 9 p.m. The funeral will be held Tuesday, October 13th at 10:30 a.m. in Hope Covenant Church, Grand Forks. Burial will be at Ringsaker Cemetery, rural Cooperstown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the American Heart Association in Deane's honor.
