Colleen "Connie" Nygaard

Colleen "Connie" Nygaard, 83, Grand Forks, died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at home with family by her side. Connie was born to Guy and Gertrude (Nice) Peoples on August 31, 1932 at Minot, North Dakota. She moved with her family at a young age to Coeur d' alene, Idaho where she attended school and graduated from high school. She attended North Idaho Junior College. Connie was employed by General Electric, Hanford Atomic Energy at Hanford, Washington. She married Robert "Bob" Nygaard on December 24, 1954 at Coeur d' alene, Idaho. They moved to Grand Forks where she was employed as office manager of Anesthesia Associates for 19 years. Connie was a longtime member of PEO Chapter D, Shrine Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and watching tennis on t.v. She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Nygaard, Grand Forks; sons, Brad (Tonya) Nygaard, Cordoba, TN, Rick Nygaard, Grand Forks, John (Theresa) Nygaard, Grand Forks; 4 grandchildren, Shannon, Stacey, Conner, and Colin, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Robyn (Harold) Phelps, Coeur d' alene, ID, Bonnie (Don) Peterson, Shelton, WA, and Gay (Don) Stroupe, Wasilla, AK. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Nancy, and daughter-in-law, Marilyn. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Wesley United Methodist Church, 1600 4th Ave North, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to the Scottish Rite Foundation or Wesley United Methodist Church.
