Dwaine Wixo

Dwaine H. Wixo, 74, Grand Forks and formerly of Petersburg, ND, passed away Saturday, October 24th 2015 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare of Grand Forks. Dwaine Harvey Wixo was born April 10, 1941 in Grand Forks, the son of Harvey and Blanche (Rodningen) Wixo. He was baptized at Lom Lutheran Church of rural Niagara, ND and was raised on the family farm near Petersburg, ND. He always said he started farming at the age of two when he brought lunch out to the field. Dwaine was confirmed at Petersburg Lutheran Church of Petersburg, ND and, in 1959, he graduated from Petersburg High School. He then attended the State School of Science at Wahpeton for welding. Dwaine married JoAnn Chyle on May 16, 1970 at Park River, ND. Dwaine lived and farmed near Petersburg most of his life. He also worked in engine buildup for New Flyer Bus Company. Dwaine is survived by his wife of 45 years JoAnn, children Audra Wixo, Divide, CO and her children Dax and Tera, Amanda (Shane) Filipy, Grand Forks and their son Jacob and Matthew (Kelli) Wixo, Colorado Springs, CO and their sons Zachary and Tucker; sister, Clarice (Gary) Urness, Grand Forks; aunt, Leone Rodningen Grand Forks; sisters and brothers in-law, cousins, nieces and nephew, and special friends, Don and Tonja Schaffer and family of Grand Forks. Dwaine loved to listen to music, especially Polkas and Waltzes. He loved to attend any events in which his children were involved including their sporting events. He also taught his daughters how to dance. Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in law, and brother in law. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 30, 2015 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home.
