Betty Ann Messner

Betty Ann Messner, 90, of Grand Forks, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village in Grand Forks. Betty was born February 25, 1925, the daughter of Edgar & Josie (Dahl) Mickels, in McVille, ND. She grew up on their family farm in rural McVille and graduated from McVille High School in 1943. Betty was married and a housewife for many years raising 5 children. Eventually going back to school and graduating from Aaker's Business College. Betty was church secretary for Augusta Lutheran Church in Grand Forks until leaving and going to work for the GFPD as a records clerk until she retired. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church, American Legion Women's Auxiliary & Son's of Norway. Betty is survived by her children, Dwight Messner of Grand Forks, Jay Messner of Reno, NV, Elese Messner-Price of VA; brother, Charles Mickels of WA; sisters, Carol (Nels) Loiland of Grand Forks & Evelyn Robb of WI; 3 grandchildren, Carly Messner, Joe Messner and Hannah Messner; daughter-in-law, Diane Messner and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dorothy Kahlenbach, Ronald and Robert Mickels and sons, Dale & Jeffrey Messner. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks. Visitation: Friday, Nov. 6 from 5:00 - 7:00p.m at Amundsons. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the service at Amundsons. Inurnment: (At a later date) Center Lutheran Cemetery, Rural McVille, ND.
