John Richard Scheving, 86, entered into eternity on Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Warroad, MN. He was born on December 24, 1928 to John and Mary (Crossen) Scheving in Grand Forks, ND. He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from St. James Academy in 1946. He joined the US Army and was stationed in Japan. He married Adorine Austin on October 25, 1949, and together they raised nine children. The family resided in East Grand Forks, MN until 1975, when they moved to Maple Lake. John had an entrepreneurial spirit and was a gifted business man. Over the years with his brothers, he owned and operated NuVu Picture Tubes, Brownie Cleaners, and The Brothers/North Star Terrace Mobile Home Court and Sales. He was also a realtor and owned several rental properties within the greater Grand Forks area. Although he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the lake life, John demonstrated the most devotion to his wife and children. John and Adorine loved to travel and spent many winters crossing the country in their motorhome, most often settling in Texas, until her passing in 2009. John is survived by his children: John (Darlene), Crookston; Sue (Scott) Stinar, Grand Forks; Scotty, Bloomington, MN; Tim, Moorhead; Tony (Lori), Moorhead; Jeff (Kathy), Warroad; Joel (Melissa), Greer, SC; Joni (Dan) Burris, Chandler, AZ; and Stacy, Ada. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a brother Charles (Lotus), a sister Mary, and LaVonne Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Adorine, his parents John and Mary, his brother George, sister-in-law Ann, and brother-in-law Phil. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
