Janice L. Peterson

August 11, 1949 — November 18, 2015

Janice L. Peterson, 66, died November 18, 2015 in her home in Grand Forks, ND. She was born August 11, 1949 to Verna and Lee Mauch in Minneapolis, MN. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Verna Mauch.  She is survived by Greg Peterson; daughter, Marisa (Tim) Solberg, and son, Jordan (Jen) Peterson; grandchildren, Will, Lauren, Lucia, Lola, and Walker Solberg, Allie and Nora Peterson; sister, Joanne (William) Lehman, and brother, James (Megan) Mauch, and some amazing nieces and nephews. Janice graduated from Central High School in 1967. She graduated from UND in 1973 with a major in Business.   She married Greg Peterson in 1975.  Her early professional years were spent as a buyer and manager for numerous retail stores in Grand Forks. She then worked as a Branch office administrative assistant at Edward D Jones for 25 years until her retirement in March 2014.   Janice was very multidimensional.  She was extremely organized and smart with a remarkable memory.  She had strong opinions and was not shy in expressing herself, but also had a loving and giving heart.  Janice was a wonderful cook, very creative and an excellent painter.  Her family and friends will cherish her paintings. In her later years, her passion was her family and most of all, her Grandchildren. She would drop everything when they needed her, and if you saw her around town you most likely got a few funny stories about them. Janice had a strong Christian faith.  Although she would have loved more time to spend with her grandchildren, she was ready and looking forward to being with her Lord.   Janice would not have been able to remain at home for these last difficult months without the love and support of her caregiver, Greg.  The family would like to thank the care provided by Hospice of the Red River Valley and especially her nurse, Judy Hendry, who became a special friend. A special celebration of her life will be held at Sky,s restaurant 322 Demers Ave. Grand Forks ND  Tuesday, December 22  from  5pm -8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to: Cooperstown Bible Camp 11776 3rd St SE Cooperstown ND 58425. Cooperstown Bible Camp was a special place for Janice, a place where her grandkids grew closer to Jesus every summer they attend.
