Birdie Lorraine Jorgenson

Birdie L. Jorgenson, 89, Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 in Grand Forks. Birdie Lorraine Anderson was born November 22, 1926 in Milton, ND, the daughter of Lee and Emma (Hiller) Anderson. She was raised between the towns of Milton, Langdon, Walhalla and Osnabrock, ND. Birdie married O’Dawn Jorgenson when he returned from his naval service in WWII. They lived in Grand Forks where Birdie was a homemaker before going to work for The University of North Dakota in the Wilkerson Hall dining area. She was employed at UND for 30 years before retiring as food line supervisor. Birdie and O’Dawn spent summers at their family’s farm near Walhalla, ND where Birdie loved to garden. She also enjoyed cooking, crochet, working around her house and spending time with family & friends. Survivors include her children, Bonnie (Harvey) Hughes, Denver, Co, Terry (Bob) Horski, Grand Forks, Dan (Nancy) Jorgenson, Grand Forks; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Anderson, Tangent, OR. Birdie was preceded in death by her husband, O’Dawn in 1987; son, Randy; sisters, Arlene and Donna and a brother Floyd. In life we loved you dearly,  In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone.  For part of us went with you,  The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories,  Your love is still our guide.  And although we cannot see you,  You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken,  And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. We miss you, with love, your family Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 7, 2015 in Cornerstone Baptist Church 2297 S. 36th St (north of Menards) in Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery of Grand Forks with luncheon at the church following the graveside service.
