Shirley Ann Hegg

July 17, 1941 — December 20, 2015

Shirley Ann Kay (Vigen) Hegg, age 74, of Reynolds, ND was called home by our Savior, Sunday, December 20, 2015. She was surrounded by her family. Shirley was born at home in Golden Lake Township of rural Hatton, ND on July 17, 1941, the daughter of Harry and Hazelle (Erickson) Vigen. She graduated from Hatton High School. Shirley met Earl Hegg at a “social gathering” and it was love at first sight. They were united in marriage on September 4, 1964 at Little Forks Lutheran Church of rural Hatton. They moved to Pomona, California where she worked as a waitress. While they were in California, they began their family with the birth of two girls. With a third on the way, they moved back to North Dakota where they also had their three boys. By far, Shirley’s greatest joy was being a wife and mother. This role did not end with her family. She opened her arms and gave of herself to anybody in need of comfort, support or just a friend. Her love for others and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Shirley was a member of East Walle Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She served on the East Walle Board of Education. Shirley volunteered styling hair at Valley Memorial Home. Her other interests were her family, baking, shopping, decorating, baby sitting and flower gardening. Shirley is survived by her husband, Earl; children, Kelly Hegg (Joe Smerer), Kristie (Tim) Adam, Kathy (Todd) Radermacher, Tim (Dena) Hegg, Todd (Jeanne) Hegg, Travis (Jessi) Hegg; sister, Wanda Miske; brother, Larry (Kim) Vigen; 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, John Halvorson; brothers, Arleigh Vigen and Charles Vigen; sister, Wanda Faye Vigen; grandson, Alexander Kent Hegg; nephews, Curtis, Michael, Wesley, Ricky and Billy; Mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norris and Edna Hegg. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at East Walle Lutheran Church of rural Thompson, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in East Walle Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in East Walle Cemetery.
