John G. Obie

John G. Obie, 68, Grand Forks, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at home. John Gordon Obie, the son of Gordon Steen Obie and Lois Mae (Vannett) Obie was born in Grand Forks on  March 10, 1947.  John was raised in Grand Forks and attended local schools and is a 1965 graduate of Central High School.  John served in the US Army in Vietnam from February 9, 1966 until he was honorably discharged October 15, 1968.  He is survived by a sister, Jana Obie, Grand Forks;   a niece, Traci Plante, East Grand Forks, MN;  nephews, Tony Dolvin, College Park, MD, and Rick Obie, Portland, OR.  “Lippsy”, his german shepherd  dog, was his very dear companion who is now at rest with John.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lois Obie, and brothers, Rick and Jeff Obie.  Graveside Service, military honors and inurnment will be 1:00 p.m.  March 10, 2016 in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
