Christine Louden, 94 of Grand Forks, ND passed away Thursday, January 7, 2015 at 4000 Valley Square- Woodside Village, Oakcrest Unit, Grand Forks, ND. Christine Austfjord, the daughter of George and Thorstina (Gunlogson) Austfjord was born March 16, 1921 on the family farm south of Akra, ND. She attended Akra's country school and then high school in Cavalier, ND. She later attended Bernel Beauty College in Grand Forks, ND. She was married to John Earle Sproule on August 13, 1945 to 1955. Three children were born to them. Christine married William Thomas Louden in Crookston, MN. November 5, 1970. He passed away August 28, 1981. Christine spent many years clerking at various places in Grand Forks and helping her loving sister Inga McDonald at their business, The Highlander. She also helped manage apartments in California for 11 years. Christine's passion in life was taking care of her children and grandchildren, along with a love of baking and cooking for family and friends. She is best known for her cinnamon rolls, vinetarta cake, date filled cookies, sugar cookies and brown bread. Christine is survived by Children, Ingrid (Walter) Helton, Fullerton, California, John (Sharrie) Sproule, Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Paul (Susan) Sproule, Grand Forks, ND; Grandchildren, Mike (Lisa) Sproule, Grand Forks, ND, Corbin (Jessica) Sproule, Norco. CA, Garlin Sproule, Norco, CA, Annie (David) Gorder, Grand Forks, ND, Mollie (Steve) Ficocello, Grand Forks, ND, and Grace Sproule, Grand Forks, ND; Sister, Inga McDonald, Walhalla, ND; Great Grandchildren, Spencer & Carter Sproule and Ophelia Gorder. Christine was preceded in death by her Parents, George and Thorstina Austfjord; sisters, Allie Haug, Bertha Austfjord, Sophie Wimpfheimer, and Sigrid Yieter; brothers, Ed Austfjord, Mike Austfjord, William (Billy) Austfjord, and Sig Austfjord. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be at Vidalin Church in Akra, ND in the spring.
