Richard Bruce Berg, Sr.

Richard Bruce Berg, Sr., 72, Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, January 11, 2016 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Richard was born to Norval and Myra (Crawford) Berg on January 15, 1943 in Shevlin, MN. He grew up in Grand Forks, ND ,and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1961. On December 23, 1962 he married Barbara Roth in Jamestown, ND. Richard taught at Viking Elementary School for 40 years, retiring in 2005. He was a faithful servant of God, devoted husband for 53 years, and an exceptional father and grandfather. Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara, Grand Forks; children, Rachel (Dean) Sturn and their children, Jacob and Hunter, of Mandan, ND, Richard Berg, Jr., and his children, Aubrey, Dylan and Josiah, of Fargo, ND, Rebekah (Michael) Smit, of Pella, IA, and Sarah (Jeff) Cooper and their children, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Esther, of Billings, MT; siblings, Kay Hertweck, East Grand Forks, MN, Jim Berg, Auburn, WA, and Jack (Inge) Berg, Sun City, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.  A time of worship and celebration of Richard's life will be 2:00pm, Friday, January 15, 2016 at Hope Evangelical Covenant Church, 1601 17th Ave S, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Grand Forks Women's Pregnancy Center.
