Beverly A. Confer

March 24, 1947 — January 25, 2016

Beverly A. Confer, 68, Buxton, ND, passed into the next life on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Sanford Hospital, Mayville, North Dakota. Beverly Ann Hendrickson, a blonde haired, hazel eyed baby girl, was born at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, ND on March 24, 1947, the only child of Victor A. and Edna (Folden) Hendrickson.   Beverly was baptized in the Lutheran faith, her sponsors being Leo and Phyllis (Falkanger) Benser.  Beverly and Phyllis were first cousins and enjoyed a close, special life-long friendship.  Bev was later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Alvarado, MN.  She attended school in Alvarado, graduating in 1965 as an honor student.  Bev excelled in music, speech and academics and had many friends who she loved and to whom she was very loyal.    She continued her education in Des Moines, IA, where she studied bookkeeping and accounting.  She was employed in Des Moines by LOOK Magazine.  In 1966 she married Richard C. Confer, Sr.  They divorced in 1970.  To this union was born her only child, Richard C. Confer, Jr.  She and her son enjoyed the same closeness that she enjoyed with her parents and relatives.  Beverly was employed from 1967-1990  by PKM Electric Co-op.  in Warren, MN where she also held several part time jobs.  In 1990 Bev resigned from PKM and attended the MN School of Real Estate of Eden Prairie, MN.  She was affiliated with First Realty of Grand Forks in the 1990’s, and also worked  in sales at Sears  in the carpet and home electronics departments.  She later worked for the Alerus Center in Grand Forks and several area lounges and bars, the last being the PaddleWheel Lounge and Steakhouse in Hillsboro, ND, working for Carol Peterson and Vince Kostke.  She enjoyed this job immensely and made many very good friends there.    She loved music, singing, reading, and was an advocate for all animals.  She was a talented artist and crafter and enjoyed nothing better than getting together with her many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Merrit Hendrickson, Arnold and Sine (Silverness) Folden, who were all immigrants to this country.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Edna and all of her aunts and uncles.  Bev is survived by three aunts-by-marriage, Ivie Folden, Louise Folden, and Murial Folden, and numerous cousins many of whom she considered very good friends.  She is also survived by her son, Richard Confer, Jr. of Warren, MN ; two grandsons, Joshua Lappe and Christopher Lappe;  Rick’s significant other, Holly Doll and her son, Spencer;  her longtime life partner, Steven Nesvig of Buxton, ND  with whom she shared  the past 27 years, and she became friends with many of Steven’s family and friends .   She is also survived by her two beloved  cats, Ms. Kitty and Humphrey Bogart,  “Bogey”.  Beverly loved life as fully as possible and will be forever remembered in our hearts.  The family extends a thank you to all of her compassionate caregivers and many relatives and friends for all of their love. Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Nyskoga Cemetery, Rural East Grand Forks, MN.  Memorials are preferred to the ALS Foundation.  Online guestbook is available at www.amundsonfuneralhome.com.
