Clarion Lunski, 83, Grand Forks, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at home. Clarion was born August 24, 1932 in Grand Forks, the son of Alex and Julia (Pokrzywinski) Lunski. He was raised on the family farm near Ardoch, ND and attended country school and worked with his dad on the farm until 1950 when he went to work for Great Northern Railroad until 1952. Clarion was drafted into military service in 1952 and served in the US Army in Korea until 1954 when he was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Clarion came back to North Dakota and worked for Great Northern and BNSF Railroads until he retired. Clarion was united in marriage to Dorothy Rolczynski on November 15, 1955. They resided in Grand Forks. Clarion was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, American Legion Post#6, VFW Post #3817, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Clarion is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy; sisters, Alice (Dan) Seitz, Dekalb, IL, Delores Korynta, East Grand Forks, MN, Joyce (Lloyd) Hagen, Grand Forks; brothers, Hilary Lunski, Grand Forks, Raymond (Gayle) Lunski, Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lunski; and many nieces and nephews. Clarion was preceded in death by his parents sisters, Ida (Syl) Byzewski, Verna (Alyosius) Slominski, and Loretta (Julian) Langowski; brothers, Frank (Jean), John (Dorothy), Florian, Joe (Clementine) Stephen, David; brother-in-law, Ray Korynta. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 520 N. 5th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Monday at Amundson Funeral Home, February 1, 2016 and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Calvary North Cemetery later in the spring. Memorials are preferred to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or Altru Hospice.
